Here some news about A.:

For the last months he watched and sang over and over again the solfege in many way, through LR or PPT files or recognizing the notes big or small form different cards or printed pages. He sang whenever he liked with whatever materials he prefered and I let him play the piano whenever he liked.

A week ago I decided to take it to another step: I put back all the piano stickers. He liked the idea.

Few days ago when he played the GSK game he had patience only for 2 minutes or so.

Yesterday his GSK score was 22 / 7:41.
In Gentle Piano game: French song 22:28 / 152. I helped him one time by playing the left hand. At this game he has remembered that he has to make the butterfly appear. I remember him that the right hand is used for the green part of the screen and of the piano - and he's trying to comply. He did both HCB and the French song as I thought would keep him interested and also aware of the green staff - and is working: new things help even when old things are not learned perfectly, I want him to enjoy it. For now he does best playing the notes with the index finger.

But today... amazing! Here's the link to a video made today with A. playing GKS game, final score: 552 / 25:47:

He had a lot of patience, all this time. It would have been very hard for me to concentrate that long - in fact I did watch him all the time and encouraged him and it was difficult for me even so :)).

Later edit:
That was what he did last week (04.31.2012 - 05.06.2012). I'm trying to help him have a lesson at least every other day, as you shall see in the future messages.

Here's my progress since my last message about me and before reading yesterday more in what others here wrote on the forum, I mean before learning how to learn :P :

02.28.2012

Guess key: 11:38 / 1503 (7 baskets, if I recall well)
(If you remember, Hellene, I was afraid to go beyond the diez and bemol :P , but surpassed that! )

Note duration: 24:52 / 1713 (Level 21)

Here is a huge break, I know. I did some finger exercises from time to time, when possible, between breastfeeding and other stuff :P DS2 has grown up a little, so I have a little more free time... mainly during his sleep :woohoo: , either day or night (if I can skip few moments of my sleep, of course, like some moms here do ;) )

I love 'Ode to Joy'! I remember singing the solfege of few songs, this among them, in secondary school in music classes. We had to learn this fragment by heart, with Romanian words, so I had to memorize it. It's so good to see that what I learned then I can remember and use now! So those music classes were very useful! :)

Andrea, your kid is AMAZING. Guess Key Game is not a 'game' - it based on very advanced algorithm that make the game very challenging for any beginner. I usually recommend to play this game for 1 min first year. After the time is expired, you have to press F1 and stop the game and to write the score.
Each time you play it the score will be different, because the game will feel every move of a player and bring him to different route.
If your kid was able to play the game for such a long time, it means, he has excellent focus skills and ability to concentrate for long time.

Please, post more often! I would like to be more helpful for his development!

Andrea, your scores absolutely great! Something is telling me that you are ready for some challenges! ;)

Here is couple of the pieces that you can learn now:
Favorite Classics 1 - Musette
Nursery 1 - This Old Man
Please, look at the pieces and let me know, what do you think!

That time was a test for him. I wanted to see how far can he go, how patient can he be, how concentrated. And he amazed me.
Well, after reading your advice on other topic, I decided to set the time to 3 minutes and just see his progress. 1 minute would be too short, and 3 for now seems a very good time for keeping him interested. I am happy each time he puts fruits in Mr. Oops basket and I always tell him that he pays us for each fruit and pays us more if we press the key faster - and, as you'll see, he's progressing. I'm trying to do it daily with him.

Gentle Piano: Jingle Bells - 35:45/ 245

Now, regarding the hand exercises: Till today he never listened to me when I showed him what our fingers need to do to play well - but I didn't apply your advice properly, Hellene. Today, after rereading one of your posts about the brothers and sisters I tried this: took red and blue smiles (stickers I had in the house) and put them on my nails and played the 5 finger exercise. He loved and recognized the smilies from another (early learning) lesson of ours so I put the stickers on his nails. And for the first time he let me take his fingers one by one and place them properly on the keys. I guess the smilies made him pay more attention.

So, the next step is: to make rings from the boys' and girls' faces from your cards in Flash Cards Level 1 and use them on my fingers first, and then on his. We'll see how it works, I've already cut them, just need time to make the rings :P I'm using his jealousy or curiosity or his wish to imitate me to attract him in things that are not appealing to him first ;)

PS: Looves the piano - I think he even developed some perfect pitch (?)- he always sings very good the note whenever he sees it even without touching the piano or hearing the note. Is this part of perfect pitch?
