Andrea - Prep Level C

W1:
GKG 2:00 = 265, 258, 204 (RH)
GP:
MB R1= 22/23 L1=12/13 P1=32/36
R= 22/23 T11 L= 12/13 T7 P= 35/36 T19
SS P= 61/67
R1= 34/44 L1=23/23 P1=65/67
R1=40/44 T28 L1= 22/23 T21 P1=61/67 T52
W2:
GKG: 2:00 = 329, 325 ( RH) 225, 251 (PH)
GP:
HCB R1= 14/15 T3 L1= 21/22 T6 P1=35/37 T7
P1= 34/37 T4

R= 44/44 T14 L= 22/23 T14 P= 58/67 T46
P=62/67 T32

She like playing the songs with both hands.
She easily gets bored with the GKG.
What is the proper finger placement for the GKG?
The finger stickers with the numbers 1-5, re there fingers supposed to be in that placement when playing GKG or all the other songs for that matter?
Is it like if he note is on the right side of the tree you use the RH and LH if its on the left?
What does R1 mean? Do I press R then 1 or press both together?
Do i press it on all the songs, or just when specified?
What does the right most score or tempo mean?

For the New Academy:
Where do I make a progress diary? On the blog, messages?
When uploading videos, what do you mean by labeling it 'Soft Mozart: Semester 1/13' then 'Sem 2/13'? Which semester is she now?
How do I label her first video?
Is the evaluation/grading monthly?

Oh, yes! I see the problem here :P Are you using music money?

- can sing do to do music alphabet song chant
- can match solfege icon cards

- can sing whole alphabet song in solfege

I am happy to read that. Good job!

W2:
GKG: 30s = 7, 14, 9.

This is the stage of attention span development. Keep working! Consistency will improve the focus skills and score!

GP: HCB = 11/15 T 48

Time shows that coordination is in beginning stage. This is normal. Right now the goal is to keep left number close to 15.

- sings notes instead of pressing keys
- surprised he can recognize the solfege when he watched for the first time the ear training melody 1 ( YouTube) do re do do re mi

Great ear! We will use it as point of support for the further development.

Andrea - Prep Level C

W1:
GKG 2:00 = 265, 258, 204 (RH)

Very good score!

GP:
MB R1= 22/23 L1=12/13 P1=32/36
R= 22/23 T11 L= 12/13 T7 P= 35/36 T19

R1= 34/44 L1=23/23 P1=65/67
R1=40/44 T28 L1= 22/23 T21 P1=61/67 T52

It seems like well developed fine motor skills to me. Any plans to place video for more information?

She like playing the songs with both hands.
She easily gets bored with the GKG.

We have to let her know about her progress. Guess Key game is very important for her ear - key recognition development. Keep notes and show her, how many more points did she earn each time. Ask her to sing the notes names.

What is the proper finger placement for the GKG?

Finger # could be any. Ask her to play with nice rounded hand and with a tip of her finger.

The finger stickers with the numbers 1-5, re there fingers supposed to be in that placement when playing GKG or all the other songs for that matter?

No! These numbers reflect numbers on lines of Grand Staff.

Is it like if he note is on the right side of the tree you use the RH and LH if its on the left?

No! Use 1 hand at a time. If decided Right hand, stick with this. The same with Left hand. The goal is to play game fast and make more points at the same time frame.

What does R1 mean? Do I press R then 1 or press both together?

R stands for Right hand. 1 is the vertical presentation with colors and pictures. Elementary presentation.

Do i press it on all the songs, or just when specified?

When specified.

What does the right most score or tempo mean?

This means how many seconds were 'lost'. Ideal time should be 0. But only machine can do that :P Our goal is to keep time on the right part of the screen down.

Thanks for the reply Hellene. We haven't used music money, I will try it with them. So how does it work? should I give the reward after every session or weekly? Andrea, who is 5 can use the piano guide and I think will like the music money, but Nio, 2y2m still needs the stickers and I don't think he'll get what the music money is for, but we'll still try it. What we are using right now (since all the note stickers are peeled off already, thanks to my ds ;) )is that I printed out and just used the upper half of the piano guide and laminated it, then just put the long laminated strip on top of the piano keys,just below the black keys. I am planning to punch them into circles then stick them to the keys individually, at least it's laminated, if he peels it I can still stick it again. Maybe a foam backing so it won't fall in between keys, just incase if he inserts it there. Any suggestions of particular tape or adhesives, etc that won't damage the keys? Yes, I will upload videos of them at the end of every month or segment.

Hello!

MyYangky wrote: Thanks for the reply Hellene. We haven't used music money, I will try it with them. So how does it work? should I give the reward after every session or weekly?

After the session. It has to be instant gratification for young beginners. It has to be something simple, something that they like. For example, an apple, a little candy. Something that they enjoy everyday as a treat. Now they have 'earn' it.

Andrea, who is 5 can use the piano guide and I think will like the music money, but Nio, 2y2m still needs the stickers and I don't think he'll get what the music money is for, but we'll still try it.

I don't see connection between the stickers and money :unsure:
But the way I do it: ANYTHING that it is done nicely. Even if it is proper position at the instrument SUCH AS not taking finger into the mouth or following the instruction (even for couple of seconds!) ough to be rewarded.
Just couple of minutes of good behavior is good enough to start!
Don't create huge goal. Little step at a time.
You ULTIMATE aim is to keep him interested and coming back.

You see, with 'traditional' piano lessons we have to get most out of a child during a session with an adult. You have Soft Mozart 24/7. All what you have to do is to make it accessible and step back.

What we are using right now (since all the note stickers are peeled off already, thanks to my ds ;) )is that I printed out and just used the upper half of the piano guide and laminated it, then just put the long laminated strip on top of the piano keys,just below the black keys. I am planning to punch them into circles then stick them to the keys individually, at least it's laminated, if he peels it

Good plan! But to award your toddler, when she didn't pill out something would also work! ;)

I can still stick it again. Maybe a foam backing so it won't fall in between keys, just incase if he inserts it there. Any suggestions of particular tape or adhesives, etc that won't damage the keys? Yes, I will upload videos of them at the end of every month or segment.

Scotch? It works. Music money work for a long term... :)

Hi everyone,

Nio - Level A

Week 3:
He just played GKG 3x that week with scores :30=7; :30=10; :30=8 but he sings it, like when I or his sister are playing the GKG sometimes he sings the notes while he' s playing somewhere else in the living room.
He points to the notecards while singing the "do-do" song forward and backward. He also sings solfege of Surprise Symphony when I play it to him.
Week 4:
Did GKG just a couple of times with scores :30= 6 & :30=7 he doesn't want to sit still and play at times I just guide his finger to which note is played. Then he' s back to standing up or sliding down on the chair.

I'm still a bit confused here on the GKG, obviously the low right hand corner score is not the actual 2 mins., coz its much longer than that. So is it ok now we're starting on Segment 2, I put a timer set to 3 mins. Then when it goes off I just record whatever the score is on the lower right corner. The 2:00 timing on the low right hand is too long for my daughter.
