I think, it is time to ask to play Hanon using both hands! Kristos has to watch the pictures (they suppose to be the same!)

Yes, saying the same notes backwards always is a challenge for young beginners. But since music notes run freely, it is a very valuable skill to learn!

I played Hot Cross Buns and asked him to make marks on a piece of paper for each note; then went back and asked him to identify and mark the long notes.

It seems like playing with both hands needs some improvement. I am confused here: what your numbers 1, 2 and 3 at the beginning of each line mean?
