Kataya 11yrs Australia was created by kmt7
Belated videos of Kataya progress. We changed to a weighted keys keyboard too early and she was adjusting to it with these vids. Now changed back.



Kataya's fingers play the keys differently to your teaching vid. Not sure if able to play simultaneously yet.

Should she play these again to make perfect or better score and time? esp P2??

Have some suggestions and will comment below:

Try to find a higher seat. Your elbows should be above the piano keys. It will add more power to your fingers by using the weight of your hands.
You have great music ear and wonderful hands and fingers. Let's master your talent!

Please, add these hands exercises to your practice routine (there are 4 pages of them!) :

Kataya obviously has outstanding music memory and ear. Our focus should be on posture, hand position and proper piano technique.

Hellene, from the sight reading results above for each piece. Do I let Kataya continue to play progressively in P4,5,6 or just leave it and continue to the next song as I have done.


With her music ear and memory she will memorize music and pretend reading. Let's do a month more on 2 for new albums. We want her to build strong connection between keys and lines/spaces. Don't repeat any piece more then 2 times. Move on to next albums.

In August let's do 4. We can return back to the old pieces at first.

NO. Read more songs a day. Set the goal is to make no more then 5, 3, 1 mistakes. Don't master them! This is sight-reading. More new songs is better.

Yes our daily routine includes Hanon #1 L,R, BH, Note Alphabet School, Sight Reading one piece twice R,L,P, GP on chosen song. Will add the hand exercise to the routine as well. Should Kataya do the chromatic scale as well as Hanon? If there's anything else we missed. Please let us know.

Yes, she can go ahead of the lesson plans and play all exercises before working on songs.

It will be helpful for her to practice exercises on the weighted keys. It is easier to adjust to the keys' weight by playing patterns.

Sight-reading: ask her to play the entire Album with no repetition of any song. The goal is to make no more then 5 mistakes each time.

Even playing 2 times will make her to remember the tune. It won't be 'sight-reading' ;)
