Houston Musicologist Seeks Contributors to Crowd Fund Her Discovery-Based System of Music Education

Hellene Hiner's discovery-based computerized system for upgrading music education fixes an omitted error from the Medieval Ages

HOUSTON, Dec. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- On December 3, 2015 a musicologist Hellene Hiner, is launching a crowdfunding campaign. She anticipates that the Indiegogo platform will help her raise funds for "Music Education 2.0: Soft Mozart Way" project and will enable her vision to bring a new approach of teaching music literacy to the masses. The method uses a digital keyboard/piano for understanding the music score in the same manner as it was initially intended 1,000 years ago.

According to music history, a Benedictine monk named Guido of Arezzo invented music notation as the universal way to sight-read hymns, and for several centuries it worked for one-voice instruments.

The creation of the piano/keyboard revolutionized music education. Piano keys and Grand Staff became the ultimate "conversion platform" helping to unite solo voices and instruments into one written system.

The bold visual connection of the keyboard/keys and lines and spaces of the Grand Staff, however, has been overlooked by the entire music industry. As a result, music education struggles when teaching students to sight-read from Treble and Bass Clefs simultaneously. The counter intuitive way of presenting the Grand Staff fastens students to one-voice instruments and notation.

Music prodigies have led beginners astray from sight-reading the modern music score because they can naturally hear the relationship between the sounds and music notes while most people are unable to. Therefore, the vast majority of people struggle and fall behind in learning music literacy.

Russian-born, American musicologist Hellene Hiner has restored music to the way Guido first envisioned it. She has developed a visual presentation of the Grand Staff that gradually takes the student from an elementary view of musical notes (presented horizontally) to the traditional Grand Staff (presented vertically).

This "eyesight friendly" approach has a proven record of accomplishments in schools and households in 60 different countries.

Since its initial launch in 2002, this intuitive way of learning musical basics has created many piano competition winners in Ukraine, Spain and Israel. The approach is an excellent fit for public schools and piano studios. The system is also an excellent developmental tool for early learners and children with special needs.

The discovery-based curriculum is designed for building a solid foundation for the child's music and general development. As with ABC books, it trains the eyesight of beginners to focus, see and match small objects and gradually moves them to proficient music reading grasping multiple lines at once.

The most important feature of "Music Education 2.0: Soft Mozart Way," however, is the unique approach of building the self-esteem, imagination, artistry and confidence of every learner as well as preparing him/her for academic success.

Hellene Hiner calls upon the media and general public to spread the word about the project. The impact of upgrading current music education and the opportunities for developing future generations is remarkable.
