Marie, 3.5 years was created by missflute
Marie is 3.5 and we have started a few days ago, with 12 month subscription.
I have been reading around the forum today and seen lots of advice - I had started with English alphabet, as I am a musician and have never used solfege, so wasn't as confident. But I think we may change to solfege now, as it is recommended.
Marie has tried 5 notes in RH, singing each note, and I have told her that each finger goes on each key which she understands but she prefers to use index finger usually.
She has enjoyed trying Hot Cross Buns on gentle piano several times, right hand.
I will follow the lesson plans as much as possible - sometimes she says 'I don't want to do that game' so we leave it, and hope to come back to it next time.

Good idea! For the early learners it is more natural since they use primary the Echoic memory in learning languages.

Marie has tried 5 notes in RH, singing each note, and I have told her that each finger goes on each key which she understands but she prefers to use index finger usually.

Marie is now at building hand/eye coordination stage. It is challenging for her to focus on the notation, figure out the note and corresponding key and to press. These tasks usually take all the room in her mind. Therefore her fine motor skills on the autopilot mode. In such mode children use what is most comfortable to use without any thinking. Since they already used their pointers even when they were in a womb ( www.facebook.com/ProLifeWI/videos/101534...6207492/?pnref=story ), they try to use it on piano. Let it be this way and watch the numbers on the monitor. It wilol be time, when she will be ready to use different fingers!

She has enjoyed trying Hot Cross Buns on gentle piano several times, right hand.
I will follow the lesson plans as much as possible - sometimes she says 'I don't want to do that game' so we leave it, and hope to come back to it next time.

You are right: there should be no force! Great way to teach is the gradual and organic way. :)

Thank you - yes I have now read about music money too.

I have read about sticking to one game only when starting as a beginner, and have tried this with Marie, but she sees the list come up when I open the programme and is so keen to try out different games on the list! so we have tried a few. Sometimes she really concentrates on one game, other times she wants to do a different one.
We have also swapped to solfege.

I will give you our recent figures:

16 feb:
Jingle Bells RH: 36/45, 76
19 feb:
Jingle Bells RH: 37/45, 79
Guess Key game: 55, 120 (index finger only)

More figures from last few weeks; I'm not sure how exactly to print them here, let me know if there is a clearer way! Still having difficulty in getting Marie to concentrate on perfecting one song before moving to the next, she will concentrate on one for as long as she wants, and then want to move to other songs or games, so we have moved around between songs etc quite a lot. But she is certainly developing better coordination, and has started trying LH, and is much improved in singing - she now often sings Do to Do and backwards on her own.

Listened to some other songs
